Ingredients of Gujarati Handvo
- You need 1 cup of rice.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of chana dal.
- You need 1/2 cup of toor dal.
- You need 2 tbsp of urad dal.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of curd.
- It's 1/2 cup of grated carrot.
- You need 1/4 cup of green peas.
- Prepare 3 tbsp of finely chopped coriander leaves.
- It's 1/2 tsp of ginger paste.
- It's 1 of chopped green chilli.
- It's 1 tsp of sugar.
- It's 1/4 tsp of Kashmiri red chilli powder.
- It's 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
- Prepare 2 tsp of oil.
- Prepare 1 tsp of salt.
- You need 1 tsp of ENO /fruit salt.
- Prepare For of For tempering-.
- It's 3 tsp of oil.
- It's 1/4 tsp of mustard seeds.
- Prepare 1/4 tsp of cumin seeds.
- It's 1 tsp of sesame seeds.
- Prepare few of curry leaves.
- Prepare few of chopped green chill.
- You need Pinch of hing.
Every family has their own recipe and I also try to make it with different variations. This recipe is perfect for hot snacks with afternoon masala tea. Gujarati Handvo instructions
- Firstly soak rice, chana dal, toor dal, urad dal for 3 to 4 hours..
- Add curd and blend to a smooth but slightly coarse paste..
- Further add grated carrot, peas, coriander leaves, ginger paste, green chilli, sugar, chilli powder, turmeric powder, oil, and salt..
- Mix well making sure the batter is slightly thick like idly batter consistency..
- Now add ENO and mix gently..
- Take a deep nonstick pan add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, green chilli, curry leaves, and hing, allow to splutter..
- Keep few tempering in a bowl..
- Now pour all the batter in that pan and sprinkle the tempering over the batter and cover a lid, slow the flame..
- After 30 minutes flip another side and cook for 15 minutes..
- Check by inserting a knife, if knife comes out clear then handvo is ready to eat..
- Let's cool down for few minutes then Cut into desire shape and serve..
- Note- YOU can also mix chopped cabbage and grated bottle gourd in batter..
