Bread Halwa step by step

  1. Slice the breads into small cubes and deep fry it, until it turns golden brown. Keep the stove in medium flame to avoid burning of the bread slices. Note: Healthy alternative - wheat bread.
  2. Now in a pan, add 200g sugar and 400ml water. Wait for the sugar to melt and let the water to reach it's boiling state. You need not wait for any sting consistency.   3. After 2 or 3 minutes of boiling add in the fried bread slices to the syrup and make them soak into the syrup.
  4. Now in a small frying pan, add 3 tbsp ghee and roast the cashews, almonds and raisins. Wait until it turns slighty golden brown and switch off the flame.Note: If you have butter, you can also use melted butter..
  5. After few minutes, the bread slices would have sucked in all the sugar syrup. If you want your Bread Halwa to have bread chunks, give it a gentle mix.Don't mix it hard..
  6. Now add the roasted dry fruits along with ghee and give it a gentle mix.Note: I have limited the ghee to 3 tbsp, since the bread was deep fried. There will be a separation of oil from the bread slices as well. If you want it to have more ghee, you can add more..
  7. Now add the cardamom and mix it gently..
  8. Wait for the added ghee and oil to separate out from the Halwa(probably 5minutes) and the halwa will not stick to the pan. If you reach this level, switch off the stove..
  9. You can serve it hot or cool it down to room tempature and have it. A delicious and yummy bread halwa is ready..
