Mawa Gujiya or Gujia or Ghughra is a sweet deep-fried dumpling, made of all-purpose flour(or maida) and stuffed with a mixture of khoya or mawa, semolina, sugar, dried fruits, and deep-fried in ghee/oil until it turns golden brown and crispy. You can have Mawa Gujiya using 14 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Mawa Gujiya

  1. It's 2 cups of maida / all-purpose flour.
  2. You need 1/4 cups of Ghee.
  3. Prepare 2/2 cup of khoya/mawa.
  4. You need 1/2 cup of sooji.
  5. Prepare 3/4 cup of sugar powder.
  6. Prepare 1/2 cup of mix dry fruits chopped (roasted).
  7. You need 1/2 cup of grated coconut.
  8. It's 1 tbsp of Raisins.
  9. Prepare 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder.
  10. It's As needed of Oil for frying.
  11. It's of For sugar syrup.
  12. Prepare 1 cup of sugar.
  13. You need 2 tbsp of water.
  14. You need Pinch of Kesar (safforn)colour.

Mawa Gujia is known with many different names all over India. This Indian sweet recipe is made specially during Indian festivals like Holi and Diwali. Mawa Gujiya , Karanji, Karjikai, Kajjkayalu etc is same name for Gujiya, Diwali, holi must have sweet in our home is gujiya. Gujiya, namak para, sev is tradition in my parents home for every Diwali/Deepavali and Holi.

Mawa Gujiya step by step

  1. Take maida in bowl add ghee to it, mix well with hand. You can bind it and check. Then maida will be binded well.. Mawa Gujiya

  2. Add water in small portion and knead dough.knead stiff plain flour.make it so stiff, so that to roll out.dough is ready.keep it aside for 15-20mins..
  3. Heat Pan to prepare stuffing add ghee, as ghee melts add sooji to it.stir and roast it, until golden brown.take out the sooji in a bowl..
  4. Add sugar powder, roasted dry fruits, grated coconut, cardamom powder and also add rosted khoya, kismis.mix all ingredients well. Stuffing is ready..
  5. Knead the dough a bit,break a small ball from the dough,and make the small Puri for Gujiyas..
  6. Put 2 tbsp stuffing in it.keep Stuffing at the centre, grease edge's of poori with water, close it and press well on the edges and make Gujiyas..
  7. Now let's fry these, heat oil and fry the Gujiyas & keep it in plate..
  8. Make sugar syrup.sugar coat each Gujiya..
