Ingredients of Khoya Gulab jamun

  1. It's 500 grams of Khoya.
  2. You need 500 grams of Sugar.
  3. Prepare 200 grams (1 cup) of Maida.
  4. It's 1 tbsp of Elaichi Powder.
  5. It's Pinch of Kesar.
  6. Prepare Pinch of Baking soda.
  7. You need As required of Ghee for deep fry.
  8. You need 250 ml of Water for Sugar Syrup.

Khoya is made by cooking milk for hours on low flame until all the water is evaporated and solids are left. You can make Khoya at home but it is very time taking and needs a lot of muscle work. Gulab jamun is a deep fried doughnut hole like confession that is then soaked in cardamom, saffron and rose flavored sugar syrup to make it soft and spongy. Unlike doughnuts, gulab jamuns are made with dried milk solids and just a little flour to hold it together.

Khoya Gulab jamun step by step

  1. Add sugar to a medium Wide pot, Pour the water and heat it, add 3-4 kesar threads and 1/2 tablespoon elaichi powder, boil the syrup till it turns sticky..
  2. Making Dough for gulab Jamuns:-. Add Grated khoya to a mixing bowl, add maida, elyachi powder, pinch of kesar, baking soda and mix everything well..
  3. Take each balls in between your palms, rub it gently a few times until smooth and roll to a ball. the balls should not have cracks and must be smooth..
  4. Now Heat ghee in deep kadai or pan..
  5. Regulate the flame to medium to low and drop balls in it and deep fry until they turns brown..
  6. Allow the balls to cool a bit for 3 to 4 minutes and add in Sugar syrup..
  7. Allow them to soak in sugar syrup for 30 to 40 mins..
  8. Serve with Sugar syrup..
